At the 10th edition of ‘Sport for Life’ over six hundred children and youngsters in Suai experienced 12 different sports.

The event was co-organized with 22 participants of a five-day workshop at the Suai Youth Center on “Guide for Organizing Sport Events”. During the workshop the participants were stimulated by SportImpact facilitators to empower themselves to pursue their projects and dreams instead of just waiting for external support. Inspired by Peace and Sport’s Adapted Sport Manual, they built sport equipment for the event from local materials and recycled garbage, overcoming the lack of official (and expensive) equipment.

In the coming months, thanks to support from UNESCO, SportImpact is taking ‘Sport for Life’ to the remaining three municipalities, completing the whole country:

  • Viqueque: workshop 26-30/Oct, sport event on 31/Oct
  • Ainaro: workshop 16-20 Nov, sport event on 21/Nov
  • Same: workshop 30/Nov-04/Dec, sport event on 05/Dec
