This first version of our 'Guide to International Sport Federations Development Programmes' focuses on sports with presence in Timor-Leste. Peace Run in Timor-Leste

The Peace Run, a global torch relay that promotes international friendship and understanding, came to Dili, Timor-Leste, on November 9-13th. It was an impressive set of events over 5 days, bringing together a variety of stakeholders: Government institutions and top leaders, sport organizations, NGOs... On November 12th the Peace Run torch was part of National Youth Day celebrations (in memory of the Santa Cruz Cemetery massacre of 12/Nov/1991). SportImpact at Doha GOALS

Nuno Delicado, SportImpact Director, was invited to facilitate a discussion on "Peacebuilding through Sport" at the Doha GOALS Forum, in Doha on November 3-5th. Around one hundred participants in the forum took part in the session, where smaller groups brainstormed initiatives using sport as a tool for peace. In Nuno's group, young delegates from China and Luxembourg generated ideas on using sport to connect convicts and ex-convicts with others outside prison, to facilitate reintegration and reduce recidivism.
